First batch, need some advice.

    I love kombucha and have been brewing beer for years. I decided to brew my first batch with a SCOBY I bought from the local health food store. I have my booch in the closet with my hot water heater, but I think the temps are a little low, probably low to mid 70's. The tea looks good, the SCOBY is at the bottom but nothing is forming at the top. It smells vinegary like it is converting. Is everything going okay?
