Has anyone tried this? My apple cider vinegar has a healthy looking scoby growing in it. I read on another blog hat someone tried it but had to feed it the Tea/sugar first?

I haven't but I HAVE heard and read that , yes, it can be done but it isn't a kombucha scoby, it's a vinegar scoby. There are, apparently, risks involved, one of them being vinegar worms. If you do try it, I would suggest keeping the two cultures far enough apart that you don't get cross-contamination. (But I'm no expert so take my opinions with a grain of salt)
