Berries are either in season or they’re not; meaning, they come on quickly and they are gone just as fast. If you are lucky enough to live near an orchard, then you can get berries when they first come into season, and again within a few days, and again to make some pies, and again to freeze the berries to get you through the year until next season. If it wasn’t for the ease of freezing berries, all berry lovers would have a problem dealing with their sweet craving for delicious berries.
Think about all the many berries we have access to, it’s unlimited what our possibilities are; strawberry, blueberry, blackberries, red raspberries, and more. When you combine the sweet taste of kombucha with the natural flavors of berries, you get a delightful authentic taste that will have you coming back for more. You will want to make as much of this drink as you can while the season is in; oh wait, just freeze the berries and enjoy berry kombucha sorbet all year long.
While spring and summer are the in-seasons, you can be enjoying them throughout the year. To freeze, you simply wash the berries gently under water that is not too cold or too hot. Lay them out on a towel to dry; do not rub the berries. Once they are dry, you can put them in baggies, containers, or glass canning jars and set them in the freezer until you are ready to make this recipe.
If you haven’t done so, you will need to put together a basic brew of kombucha. Here’s a great recipe to help you get started.
Equipment you will need to make Berry Kombucha Sorbet
* flat spoon
* Serving bowls
Add the kombucha in with the berry blend in the blender and blend them on high until they combine. This won't take long since the berries are already blended together.
Is this Sorbet?
You will want to blend on high until the mixture looks thick. This is the way you want it since you are making a sorbet.
Once the blender has done its job, you need to pour this wonderful blend of berries and kombucha into serving bowls so that everyone can enjoy it as well.
If you are not able to enjoy the sorbet immediately, then you will want to place it in the freezer after you place a lid or cover on top.
You can't enjoy sorbet anytime you want but when you do get to make it, give yourself a moment, just one moment, to enjoy it.
