This recipe calls for cocoa powder. Cocoa powder comes with some benefits of its own. The cocoa seeds or beans are extracted from the pod and then fermented long enough to produce the right color and flavor. Once this bean is ready, it is then dried, roasted, and then ground into the form of a paste. This process removes the fat from the beans so that the end result is an unsweetened cocoa powder. The cocoa powder has between 3% and 9% of the recommended daily allowance of minerals such as iron, zinc, manganese, and magnesium. Cocoa has two flavonoids; epicatechin and catechin which brings antioxidants and relaxes the muscles found in the blood vessels that can help improve the flow of the blood.
