Side dishes compliment a meal and one side dish that is becoming more popular today is coleslaw. You can eat coleslaw with fish, fried chicken, even spaghetti. Everyone makes coleslaw a little different so here’s a recipe you will want to try and will most likely add it to your recipe box because it is so flavorful without the bitterness.

The main ingredient in coleslaw is cabbage and cabbage has so many nutritional benefits; protect against cancer, lowers bad LDL levels, has vitamin A, C, K, and B6. Plus it is packed with nutrients such as potassium, calcium and folate.  Cabbage also has the ability to help heal a stomach ulcer that you may be dealing with. It’s full of omega-3 but in the form of alpha-linoleic acid, even though cabbage is not full of fat. Choose red cabbage over green cabbage when possible because the red cabbage has even more cancer fighting agents in it.

With the combination of sweet and sugary put together, coleslaw can compliment any meal. It can be creamy with the right amount of mayonnaise. Create a batch of coleslaw and place in the refrigerator for the week and add it to your main dishes for a balanced meal. Its beneficial to consumer cabbage two to three times a week.
