If you have kids, you have probably tried the hazelnut flavored Nutella served on a slice of toast and if you haven’t, you have probably seen the commercials showing the dark brown colored spread going on a slice of bread, croissants, or even your favorite burger. Nutella combines both hazelnut and chocolate to create this delicious spread. While Nutella may be higher in calories and certain fats, eating it in smaller portions will be safe.
Nutella’s main ingredients are sugar and cocoa with hazelnut flavor. Other ingredients found in Nutella include modified palm oil, whey powder, lecithin, vanilla, and skimmed milk powder. In some countries around the world, Nutella is also known as Hazelnut Cream, which includes all the ingredients listed plus soy proteins.
There are several benefits found in Nutella including some dietary fiber and it also contains calcium and iron. It doesn’t contain gluten, and has no cholesterol.
It’s important to note that Nutella is high in fats, with two teaspoons container about eleven grams of it; 3.5 of which are saturated fats.

Before you can add the Nutella, you will need to first make your milk kefir. It's important to allow one to two days to complete this process so make it up ahead of time. This recipe calls for ½-1 Tablespoon of Nutella per one cup of cultured milk kefir so you can make up a couple of cups of this delicious drink and store it in the refrigerator until you want it.
Remove Kefir Grains
Once the milk has cultured, you will need to strain out the kefir grains. The easiest way to do this is to place a bowl on the counter or in the sink. Using a strainer in between the bowl and the jar of finished milk kefir, pour the milk into the strainer. The strainer will catch all of the milk kefir grains and allow the cultured milk kefir to go on through to the bowl below.
Now you are ready to add the great taste of Nutella to your milk kefir. Start with ½ Tablespoon into the milk kefir. Stir it thoroughly and taste. If it tastes to weak, add ¼ Tablespoon to the mixture and stir thoroughly and taste. You can still add another ¼ Tablespoon if it's not completely right for you. Everyone likes it differently so it's important that you find the taste that is right for you.
