Smoothies are delicious no matter what time of year it is but the best time to enjoy a cold one is when the weather is very warm outside. The coolness of the drink can actually cool the temperature of the body and make you feel cooler. While there are many different flavors to choose from, nothing stands out like a good old fashioned banana flavored smoothie.

Adults and kids love the taste of banana in a smoothie. It’s creamy and cool, not to mention the distinct taste that only bananas have. Bananas can be helpful to the body if you are dealing with some type of intestinal disorder, constipation, or if you are overweight and are trying to lose. Bananas have no fats and because of its fiber content, you will feel fuller after eating. Bananas also aid in disorders such as menstrual, urinary disorders, and anemia. If you need to improve your immune system before the flu season starts, this smoothie will be one to add to your menu. Bananas are also packed with Vitamins and minerals, such as Vitamin B6, C, folate, riboflavin, manganese, potassium, magnesium, and copper.

For this recipe, you will need milk kefir. If you are not sure how to create milk kefir, you can find more information and a recipe here. Of course, you will also need a banana, some vanilla, and raw honey. A good substitute for honey is maple syrup. You can also add a little bit of Stevia if you don’t have honey or syrup.

Honey is also beneficial in so many ways. You can use a tablespoon of honey if you have a sore throat that won’t go away. Got a dry cough that wakes you and everybody else up in the middle of the night? A Tablespoon of honey in a cup of warm water before bedtime will keep your coughing down and give you a peaceful nights’ sleep.

Vanilla is a great balanced flavor that can help combine the taste of two or more ingredients so your taste buds accept the uniqueness of them all. It doesn’t take much of the vanilla to bridge it all together otherwise your vanilla will overpower the taste of it all.

The best thing about this recipe is that an additional flavor can be added to your old fashioned banana smoothie – good ol’ peanut butter. That’s right, you can have a peanut butter and banana flavor smoothie by adding a spoonful of your favorite brand of peanut butter.
