A delicious twist to the simple coconut milk kefir or the banana milk kefir recipe brings these two flavors together and so much more. For this recipe, you will enjoy bringing these tropical tastes together to create a smooth treat for your tastebuds.

You will need to add frozen bananas which can be diced or sliced prior to placing them inside the blender. Why bananas? This yellow fruit is considered a tropical fruit that is packed with much needed nutrients and minerals that the body needs everyday. These include Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, folate, manganese, riboflavin, copper, and magnesium. Bananas are well known for containing potassium. Bananas are great for adding to your diet if you are planning on losing weight. That’s because bananas have zero calories, zero fats, and the contain lots of fiber. They can also help your stomach feel fuller so you eat less. This wonderful fruit can also help with cardiovascular health. Because of the potassium, it can relax the amount of tension of veins and arteries so the blood flows at a smoother rate.

In addition to bananas, you will want to have coconut milk on hand. Coconut milk is from the coconut itself and has plenty of vitamins and minerals to incorporate. The coconut meat is packed with good dietary fat and plenty of fiber. You can purchase the coconut milk at your local health food store and the organic aisle of your grocery store. Coconut shares some of the benefits of human consumption; aids in weight loss and high in fiber.

Pineapple is so beneficial in many ways; improving digestion, respiratory health, oral health, decreasing coughs and colds bone health, blood circulation, and more. Pineapple, like coconut, can be enjoyed fresh, juiced, or even added to recipes.

In addition to these fruits, this recipe calls for raw honey. If you don’t have your own beehive then you need to take a trip to your local farmers market or health food store to purchase the raw honey needed for this recipe. You will use the honey in other recipes so consider it a good investment. Honey is very healthy and is used as a substitute for refined sugar.

Last, you will need milk kefir which you can make yourself following the recipe found Here.  Milk kefir takes approximately twenty-four hours to process so make this up a day or two before.

Note: You can use one Tablespoon of maple syrup if you don’t have raw honey.
