Ingredients

Adjust Servings:
1/4 cup of organic sugar cane, such at, or rapadura
1/8 teaspoon of sea salt refined
1 liter of water filtered
1/2 teaspoon of molasses or 2 teaspoons of maple syrup
1/4-1/2 cup of water kefir grains
1/2 egg shell cleaned and broken
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

    It’s important to drink water throughout the day in order to stay hydrated. You have so many choices today in water; well water, bottled water, Flavored water, and now with kefir. The best thing about drinking water kefir is that you don’t just have one taste to choose from. You can drink as many flavors as you want to and it doesn’t cost a lot either.

    One Flavor that tastes great no matter what you put with it is vanilla. This flavorful bean is so good with foods, desserts, and now water. When you use vanilla to Flavor your kefir water, it tastes a lot like soda water which will encourage you to drink even more.

    Vanilla is good for the heart by helping to reduce cholesterol levels which can prevent conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, and atherosclerosis. Vanilla is rich in antioxidants which will help to breakdown cells and build up the immune system. This wonderful bean can also aid in your fight in preventing cancer. Due to the antioxidant property found in vanilla, it has a negative effect on the free radicals.

    You can use vanilla to strengthen hair if you are having trouble growing hair or if your hair is drying out and you can’t get enough moisture to it. Do you suffer from acne? Both adult and adolescent acne can be trouble. Consuming vanilla can destroy the infection and decrease the amount of time acne hangs around.     Dissolve the sugar

    Bring one cup of water to a rolling boil and remove from heat. Stir together sugar, salt, and maple syrup or molasses in the hot water.

    Cool the water

    Set the mixture aside and allow it to cool to room temperatures

    Pour into Jar

    Pour the cooled mixture into a jar

    Add egg shells

    If you are adding egg shells, this is where they go in. You want to make sure that the shells are cleaned, allowed to dry, and then crumbled up into a powder. If you don't want to add the egg shell, you can skip to step 5.

    Add water kefir grains

    Place the kefir grains inside the jar with the egg shells and fill the jar up the rest of the way with water. Fill up to the top.

    Place the lid on the jar

    Place an airtight lid on the jar.

    24-36 hours

    Leave setting

    Place the jar in a dark area of your kitchen. The temperature of your kitchen will determine how long the kefir takes. If you do a lot of baking, cooking, or if it is summer time, it may just take as little as 24 hours.

    Strain off the grains

    Pour the liquid out, straining the kefir grains so you can reuse them.

    Adding the Flavoring

    Add two teaspoons of vanilla extract and stir.

    Refrigerate until you are ready to use.
