If you love Kvas and apples, you will like this recipe. Its super easy to prepare and brings a delicious taste as the final result. Many people consider Kvas a difficult recipe to prepare buy with the right ingredients and the instructions below, you will enjoy it more often.

Kvas is a traditional Slavic fermented beverage that is made with rye bread. It offers many health benefits including natural probiotics to aid in better digestion.

Let’s talk Apples

While you can use fresh apples to create this recipe, it is easier to use fresh apple juice instead. Apple juice is not only available all year around but it is also easy to find and affordable too. If you are able to use fresh apple juice, that will be fine too. When using fresh juice, use the same amount listed in the recipe. It doesn’t matter if you use Granny Smith apples or Macintosh, you simply need to stick to the recipe.

Combine Ingredients

Using a 16 ounce glass jar, bring together the apple juice, sugar, yeast, and molasses.

Stir ingredients together

Take time to stir this mixture together until all the sugar is completely dissolved.

Add all the water at once to the mixture and stir.

Put a lid on it

For a lid, you can use several layers of cheesecloth layered together or if you don’t have cheesecloth, use any type of cotton cloth and a rubber band around it in order to hold it into place.

Leave it alone

Place the jar on the counter and allow it to set without being disturbed and moved for eighteen hours.

Place the mixture immediately into the refrigerator where it will stay until it is completely chilled throughout.

Now that the mixture is completely chilled, you can remove he cheesecloth and place a lid on the jar and return it back to the refrigerator.
Note:Putting thelid on this jar while the mixture is still warm will cause pressure to build up inside the jar. If you are using a plastic bottle instead of a jar, the results will still be the same – It will explode.
Note: Don’t serve this until it is completely chilled.

That’s it! You can enjoy this once considered difficult drink anytime you have all the ingredients and feel like making it up. Use it to treat your guest with or just to add a little taste and variety to a meal. While you are drinking this, add a bread dessert or a simple cake to create a satisfying balanced snack.

This recipe can be made anytime of the year but it does taste super delicious in the fall when temperatures tend to cool down and fresh apples are in abundance at your local fruit orchards and stores. Always shop organic whenever possible.

Could you please edit the recipe? It says 6 apple, but gives no measurement. Is it 6 oz.? 6 Tbsp? Then, in the directions it says to “add all the water at once,” but there is no water or quantity for water listed in the ingredients or directions. Thank you, I really look forward to trying this.
